Scenario 1: Traffic Stop Escalation

You pull over a vehicle for a broken taillight in a residential neighborhood. The driver, a middle-aged Black man, immediately becomes defensive and says, "Here we go again—you're only stopping me because of how I look." He refuses to provide his license initially and records you on his phone. A small crowd of neighbors begins to gather on the sidewalk, some filming as well.

What would you do? Select the BEST response:

A. Firmly tell him he must provide his license or face arrest for obstruction, and warn the crowd to disperse or risk being charged with interfering with police duties.

B. Acknowledge his concern calmly, explain the reason for the stop clearly, and assure him you're following standard procedure. Remain professional and patient while he decides whether to comply.

C. Let him go with a verbal warning to avoid escalating the situation in front of the crowd, even though he hasn't provided identification.

D. Call for backup immediately and wait for additional officers before proceeding, citing safety concerns due to the gathering crowd.
